This is a small website dedicated to distributing free sound effects. It also serves as a portofolio for everything I'm doing or trying to do.

About

Hello, I am Daniel Žuvela from Kraljevica, Croatia. For the past ten years I've been working as a boom operator (main source of income), field recordist, sound mixer and sound designer.

This website will provide downloadable sound libraries I've recorded and edited myself, as well as information about my work. I am currently working on creating this website and learning how to do it, so please be patient. For now, all the sounds are and will be completely free, without tricks or scams. You are welcome to contribute for them if you choose to do so, but you're not obligated.

My idea is to provide sound effects to students and anybody who can't afford to pay, for whatever reason. If you can contribute, and think my sounds are worth your money, DO IT!!! This way you will help me in keeping this dream alive and help others. In a way, this is an experiment to see if the idea is sustainable. My costs for doing this are pretty low for now and I'm having fun learning. We'll see what happens. Once I release the first thematic library, an explanation about payment options will follow accordingly.

One more important thing. I just added the Creative Commons CC0 1.0 license. You can read the details in the provided link. The basic idea i that you can use the sounds in which ever way you like. You don't even have to give me any credit or mention the Maltempo brand, although it would be nice. The one thing you absolutely MUST NOT DO, is take my sounds and sell them as your own. The license is applied to the sounds only. Everything else you find on the website is not in the public domain and cannot be used in any way by anyone except the owner of the material. Please respect this. Thank you :)

Sound Libraries

Versions

I'll post the updates to the website here. Could turn it into a blog. Who knows.

Website version 1.05 - "The Typewriter"

29.03.2025.

I am considering splitting the entire content into separate pages. I think it will be necessary when I start working on the design for the website. The next thing to do is to prepare the sounds from the first themed library into separate folders, edit the remaining ones and start working on CSS.

  • Added a sound library This one is from 2017.
  • Added an audio player with a mix of all the sounds from the mentioed library.
  • Added links to the email.
  • Fixed and added some text.
  • Fixed some formatting issues.

Website version 1.04 - "The Typewriter"

21.03.2025.

I decided not to publish for another month or so. I want to add more sounds first and have more sounds that I'm working on, for future publishing. The good news is that the studio is almost finished. The sounds are dry enough, but I want to add more absorbtion. I'm still hesitant to start working on CSS. Need to practice a bit more first.

  • Made a 64-bit pixel art favicon. Added it to the website.
  • Made a separate .html file for the CV. Linked it to the index.
  • Made a template in the CV file. Better start working on it, there's much to do.
  • Rearranged some things on the home page.
  • Two people on the mailing list. My girlfriend and one of my best friends. Stardom awaits!

Website version 1.03 - "The Typewriter"

17.03.2025.

In case you're wondering, the version updates are here mostly for myself. I like to keep track. They also give me a feeling that I'm actually doing something. Baby steps and small victories.

  • Fixed indentation from 4 to 2 in VS Code.
  • Changed the order of the versions.
  • Replaced some words.
  • Fixed some formatting issues.
  • One person joined the mailing list :)

Website version 1.02 - "The Typewriter"

16.03.2025.

  • Changed and added some text.
  • Created the "Versions" section.
  • Added the Creative Commons CC0 license.
  • Made the first git commit.

Website version 1.01 - "The Typewriter"

15.03.2025.

  • Website in HTML only.
  • Pictures and descriptions working.
  • HTML formatting is ok, I guess.
  • Added the first sound library. It's from 2015.
